Machu Picchu Trip – World Wonder Memories
Machu Picchu trips make for lifetime memories for many of those tourists who go there. This location has become more popular than ever since it was named as a wonder of the world. When one visits this site, it is easy to get a feel for how life was 500 years ago in Peru.
What many people do not realize is that Peru is a large country and that it isn’t always quick to travel from one place to another. It’s a good idea to plan around a week for getting to Machu Picchu, even if you don’t want to trek there. If you do want to trek, you’ll need a bit more time.
Most people are going to need a couple of days just to get to Cusco, which is where all trips to Machu Picchu begin. Once there, time will need to be taken for adjusting to the altitude, which is quite high. There are many things to do in the area while this is being accomplished.
You’ll probably be happiest if you do not try rushing through the time you have in the Cusco area. The city on its own is a great location to spend several days just enjoying the vibe of it and also the many restaurants and museums. The countryside around it, particularly the Sacred Valley, is especially beautiful.
To reach Machu Picchu, you are going to have to either hike or go by train. If you’re hiking, you are going to need a minimum of four days unless you’re hiking the short version of the Inca Trail which takes two. Even if you go by train, you’ll want a couple of days so you can arrive at the town nearby one day and visit the citadel the following one.
If you have more time to spend on your vacation, you can combine other trips in Southern Peru along with visiting this location. For example, you could visit Lake Titicaca, Arequipa, Colca Canyon or the Nazca Lines. With enough vacation time, you could add in a few days in the jungle as well.
You can take Machu Picchu trips in as few as seven days or combine the site with others to take up many weeks of vacation. The ancient citadel is the most important place to visit in Peru, especially as a wonder of the world. Besides that, it just depends on how much time you’ve got and what interests you most.
