Independent guides not a government, embassy or immigration website

About

Last updated

Travel to Work is an independent guide site for people who want to work while they travel or live abroad for a while: on a working holiday visa, on a remote work or digital nomad visa, in a seasonal job, or in a first job in another country.

We write plain explanations of how these things usually work, what to prepare, and which questions to take to the people who can give you a firm answer. Visa rules, age limits, fees and tax rules are set by each country, depend on your passport and change often, so our guides describe the general picture and point you to the official sources for the details.

What you will find here

  • Working holidays: how the programs usually work and how to plan a year abroad around one.
  • Remote work: remote work and digital nomad visas, time zones, and a setup that keeps you working on the move.
  • Jobs abroad: seasonal work, first jobs abroad, and how to spot a fake offer.
  • Visas and paperwork: documents, permits and tax residency explained as concepts, not as legal advice.
  • Money on the road: bank accounts, moving money and budgeting until your first paycheck.
  • Destinations: how to compare countries and cities as places to live and earn, not just to visit.
  • Gear and connectivity: phones, mobile data and the equipment that keeps you reachable.

Who writes it

Guides are written and checked by the Travel to Work desk, the small editorial team behind this site. We do not publish under made-up author names or invented credentials. You can read how a guide gets from draft to page on How we check guides.

What we are not

We are not a government website, an embassy, an immigration office, a recruiter, a visa agency or a law firm. We do not process applications, place people in jobs or sell anything. There are no affiliate links or paid placements in our guides. If a page anywhere looks like it is asking you to pay us for a visa or a job, it is not us.

About this web address

The traveltowork.net address has a long history. For many years it hosted other travel and visa blogs run by other people, including a personal travel blog in its later years. In 2026 the address was taken over and the site was relaunched from scratch by a new team.

This site has no connection to the earlier owners, authors or businesses that used this address. We do not use their names or content, we cannot answer for anything they published, and we cannot help with any arrangement made with them.
