Travel to Work publishes general information about working abroad, working holidays and remote work while traveling. Please read this before you rely on anything on the site.
Not legal, immigration or tax advice
Nothing on this site is legal, immigration, tax, financial or employment advice, and reading it does not create any professional relationship with us. Our guides explain how things commonly work so you can prepare better questions. They cannot tell you what applies to your passport, your history, your income or your plans.
Rules change, and they differ by country
Visa programs, eligibility, age limits, fees, quotas, income thresholds, permitted work and tax rules are set by each country, often depend on agreements between countries, and change without notice. A guide can be accurate on the day it is filed and out of date a few months later. We deliberately avoid printing figures like these for that reason.
Who decides
- For visas and permission to work: the official immigration or visa authority of the country, and its embassy or consulate.
- For tax: the tax authorities of the countries involved, and a qualified tax adviser.
- For a specific legal situation: a licensed immigration lawyer or, where the country regulates them, a registered migration adviser.
- For bank accounts, insurance and phone contracts: the provider’s own current terms.
We are not an official site
Travel to Work is independent. We are not connected to any government, embassy, immigration authority, employer, recruiter or visa agency, and we never ask for payment to process an application or arrange a job.
Responsibility
We work to keep guides accurate, but we cannot guarantee that every detail is complete or current. Decisions you make about visas, work, taxes or money are your own; please confirm the details with the sources above before acting on them.
